The WPS Scholastic Book Fair will be kicking off on Tuesday January 23.  The Book Fair is the Media Center's annual fundraiser and it is a very exciting time for our young readers! The Book Fair will run the week of January 23-26 with a Family Night on January 25th.

On Tuesday January 23 students will get to to do a quick 15 minute preview of the Book Fair to get things hopping. Each day after that students will come during their normal Media Center classes to prepare "wish lists" with book titles and prices. These wish lists will go home in folders for parents to review. Classes that are scheduled to come to library on Friday will be making their wish lists earlier in the week. So look for these in your student's take home folder.

After previewing, students may bring money to school any day during the Book Fair to make purchases. Parents are welcome to join us at any time. The Scholastic Book Fair accepts cash, checks, credit and debit cards. No tax is collected during the Book Fair! The prices on wish lists are the actual cost. Please review with your student the selections on their wish list to help determine the best choices for your reader.

There will be plenty of activity on Family Night with our One School One Book event.... more details from Mrs. Price and Title 1 soon. We will also be showcasing our new video series "Ready Rosie" designed to help students and their families create meaningful dialogues that achieve learning goals at home and at school.

On Family Night (Thursday January 25) the Book Fair will be open all day long until 7pm. The One School One Book event will take place from 6-7pm.

More information will be forthcoming during Book Fair week. Please note that purchasing from the Book Fair is completely voluntary and not required of any student. There will plenty of fun and many prizes will be given away during the week.

Wednesday January 24 will be Pet Dress Up Day.
The Book Fair has a pet theme this year. Students who dress as a pet will get their names in a drawing for prizes. No need to go all out for this fun day. Simple is good.

Thursday January 25 will be our annual "Quietest Class at Lunch Contest." The class who keeps quietest during lunch will win books for the classroom. This contest is hard to win and we will use the 7 Habits to help us do our best!

The Book Fair will open each day Tuesday- Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm for any parents who want to visit then. Please consider coming on Family Night for information about "Ready Rosie"and lots of reading fun in classrooms.

Please contact Mr. Ussery in the Media Center for any questions about the Scholastic Book Fair.
