Daggerhart, Julie Ann - Kindergarten

Hello My Name Is...

Julie Anne Daggerheart

Hello kindergarten friends and families! I am Julie Ann Daggerhart, and I am thrilled to join the Weaverville Primary School family in a permanent position this 2021-2022 school year. I live with my husband and family in the heart of downtown Weaverville. We have lived here for almost 18 years and love the majestic mountains and gorgeous green forests. We have four children, boy bookends and two girls in the middle. Our oldest is almost 21 and attends Western Carolina University. We have two daughters at Nesbitt Discovery Academy, our almost 18 year old is in 12th grade and our 15 year old is in 10th. Rounding out "the crew" is our youngest, a 12 year old 7th grader at North Buncombe Middle School.

I have over twenty years of experience teaching, earning my Bachelor's degree in Special Education from UNC Charlotte in the late 90s. I believe teaching is an art that demands continual learning, research, and reflection to improve one's craft. To that end, I have pursued numerous opportunities to hone my craft, including multi-sensory math workshops through Key School and my Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP) distinction through the Academic Language Therapy Association, which is a long way of saying I am trained in systematic, explicit, sequential multi-sensory language instruction in teaching reading, writing, and language skills. I am three classes away from completing master's with a literacy concentration (with graduation slated for May 2022)!

Kindergarten is such a special time in your child's life! Kindergarteners are working on laying a strong academic foundation as well as learning to regulate and manage themselves in a wider world. You will be amazed at the growth that happens from the beginning to the end of kindergarten. It is an honor and privilege to walk alongside your child and your family in this first foray into their K-12 school journey. Thank you for sharing your precious children with us.
