A Classroom Full of Lovin' and Learning!
Vicki Lovin Vest
I grew
up in Powder Springs, GA, a small town in Cobb County, outside
Atlanta. At an early age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I was the
first person in my extended family to graduate from college,Young Harris
Jr. College and The University of Georgia. (GO DAWGS!)
I am married to Paul and have lived in several states because
of his YMCA career. We are the proud parents of two adult sons, Brian
and Kevin. They both graduated from NBHS, '02 and '05. Brian and his
wife, Jessica, live in Greenville, SC and have two little daughters, Sada and
Stearnes. My
other son Kevin and his wife, Jesse, live in Fletcher with their baby son, Jackson. (Being "Nana" to these three little ones brings me such JOY!) My silly cats, Skippy and Honey, are
often the subjects of stories I share with students.
Before coming
to WPS in 2000 I taught in Connecticut, Virginia Beach, and at Estes
Elementary in S. Buncombe Co. My career includes a combined 30+ years of
experience in preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade. I
achieved certification with The National Board of Professional Teaching
Standards in 2004, as an Early Childhood Generalist.
Young children are my favorite people! I love helping them and their
parents adjust to their new role as students. I consider myself
fortunate to be living my dream in this picturesque community. I love to
sing and use music to inspire learning.
