Mrs. Wilson
My
name is Hailey Wilson. I grew up here in Weaverville and attended the
North Buncombe district schools. Upon my graduation from NBHS in 2004, I
attended Western Carolina University (Go Cats!) where
I earned my teaching degree. My teaching career began in 2008 at a
school located just outside of the Cherokee Reservation where I taught 3rd and 5th grade. In
2010, I was fortunate enough to be able to come back home to
Weaverville. I love teaching in this wonderful community, and I love
working here at Weaverville Primary! In 2014 I earned a Master of Arts in Reading Education degree from Appalachian State University, and I
became a National Board Certified teacher in the area of literacy.
When
I'm not at school, I love being outside! I enjoy hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and
mountain biking. I have two sweet dogs named Roxy and Cheoah, and my students hear a lot about them. Here is Roxy on one of our camping trips. I also enjoy
photography, crafts, adventures, and spending time with my family.

I
have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I have
always loved everything about school including homework, studying, doing
research, and more! I have been working with children since I was in
the 8th grade and I feel teaching is truly my calling. I can't imagine
doing anything else! I love teaching 1st grade because the students
have such a natural curiosity and love for learning. They grow so much
during the school year, and I am honored that I get to be a part of
that.
