On March 14, Superintendent Dr. Robert Jackson continued his 45 Schools in 45 Days tour with a visit to Enka Intermediate School. Enka Intermediate is the newest addition to the Enka district schools. It opened in the fall of 2015 in order to cater to the specific needs of 5th and 6th graders and to create more space for the growing Enka District. The state-of-the-art facility commemorates the community's American Enka plant with its clock tower that is a smaller version of the one that was at American Enka. It also features bricks and even furniture from the plant that defined the Enka community during its operation.
Enka Intermediate offers a variety of classes that students can explore such as STEM, Band, Strings, Chorus, Technology, Art, and more. The school also has a variety of after school clubs including Newspaper Club, STEM Club, Math Club, Battle Of The Books, and Bible Club.
"At Enka Intermediate School, we celebrate our past while we prepare our students for the future," said Principal Emily Cox. "I'm proud to work with our teachers and families to make sure each child gets the chance to soar!"
