I'm Clay Martin. I've been teaching art at Weaverville Primary and Elementary since 2007.  My art class is based on the T.A.B. framework (Teaching for Artistic Behavior), a choice-based art teaching method that emphasizes student-choice and creative expression. Students are seen as real artists, with great control over what they choose to make in art class.

Each week, we have a "theme of the day", which can focus on an art medium, artist, art movement, or technique.  Students are given ideas for what they can make each week, but ultimately their creation is their choice.

Over the year we explore many different media in class, such as watercolor, pastel, collage, and found object sculpture.

Students really enjoy expressing themselves creatively in art class!
